Course Overview:
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular beginner scuba certification and your first step into independent diving. Upon completion, you’ll be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters / 60 feet.
All PADI courses consist of three key components:
-
Knowledge Development (e-learning / manual)
Learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including terminology and diving principles. You’ll complete a short multiple-choice knowledge review (50 questions, 75% passing score). This is usually done after the pool training or on the first ocean training day. If a student does not achieve the required passing score, a ¥15,000 re-examination fee will apply to cover additional instruction, administration, and certification processing. -
Confined Water Training (Pool Training - 5 sessions)
Practice essential diving skills in a controlled environment while becoming comfortable using scuba equipment. -
Open Water Dives (Ocean Training - 2 dives per day)
Complete four open water dives in the ocean to apply your skills and earn your certification.

Daily Schedules (How everything works):
E-Learning
Your PADI e-Learning materials are usually sent one to two days after purchase. We recommend starting the e-Learning a few days before your pool training day and completing it in advance, so you arrive well prepared and confident.
Pool Training Day (Confined Water Training)
On your pool training day, we’ll pick you up from the agreed meeting location and time and drive together to the pool. On the way, we’ll make a short stop at a convenience store so you can purchase breakfast and lunch for the day.
At the pool, you’ll practice core diving skills in a controlled environment while becoming comfortable using scuba equipment. Pool training usually finishes around 5:00 PM, after which we’ll drive you back to the original meeting location.
Ocean Training (Open Water Training)
Our Open Water ocean training days follow the same schedule as our regular tour days.
Please check the tour schedule for a detailed breakdown of how the day flows from start to finish.
