Terms & Conditions
1. General
These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings, applications, courses, guided tours, fun diving trips, equipment rentals, and other services provided by Divers Frontiers.
By booking, applying for, or participating in any of our services, you agree to the terms set out below.
2. Bookings
Submitting an inquiry or application form does not automatically confirm a booking.
Your booking is confirmed only after Divers Frontiers has reviewed your request, confirmed availability, and contacted you with the relevant details.
For fun diving and guided tours, bookings are confirmed after your application and required forms have been reviewed and accepted by Divers Frontiers.
For courses, bookings are confirmed once the required payment has been received and course arrangements have been confirmed.
Divers Frontiers reserves the right to decline or cancel bookings at its discretion.
3. Eligibility & Course Requirements
Participants must meet the age, certification, experience, and other requirements for the course, tour, or activity they wish to join.
Minimum age and course prerequisites are listed on the relevant course pages of our website and are based on applicable PADI standards.
Participants are responsible for providing accurate information about their diving experience, qualifications, certification level, and health condition.
Divers Frontiers may refuse participation if a participant does not meet the required standards, experience level, or safety requirements for the activity.
4. Medical Forms & Required Documents
Before participating in a course, fun diving trip, guided tour, or other diving activity, participants may be required to complete relevant PADI forms, medical questionnaires, liability documents, safe diving agreements, and other required paperwork.
If medical approval from a physician is required, the necessary documentation must be completed and submitted before participation.
Divers Frontiers may refuse participation if required documents are incomplete, inaccurate, not submitted on time, or if participation is considered unsafe.
5. Payment
For fun diving and guided tours, payment is usually made on the day of the activity, generally after returning to Tokyo. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
For courses, a 40% non-refundable payment is required to confirm your booking and order your PADI eLearning, books, digital products, course materials, and/or make necessary course arrangements. Any unused refundable balance may be transferred or refunded where possible.
The remaining course balance is paid on the course day or course days, unless otherwise agreed.
For some courses, services, private arrangements, or special bookings, alternative payment timing may be requested in advance.
6. Fun Diving / Guided Tour Reservation Policy
At Divers Frontiers, we operate on a foundation of trust.
We are happy to accept fun diving and guided tour bookings without a deposit or cancellation fee. However, once a booking is confirmed, we begin preparing transportation, dive site arrangements, rental equipment, and the dive schedule for the day.
To help us accommodate all divers fairly, please only reserve dates you are confident you can attend.
If your plans change, please contact us as early as possible. We understand that unexpected situations can happen, but we kindly ask guests to avoid same-day cancellations whenever possible.
7. Course Cancellation Policy
For diving courses and training programs, a 40% non-refundable payment is required to confirm the booking and order PADI eLearning, books, digital products, course materials, and/or make necessary course arrangements.
If a course is cancelled before the course start date, the participant will be charged only for any items or arrangements that have already been ordered, issued, booked, or paid for by Divers Frontiers. This may include PADI eLearning, books, digital products, course materials, facility reservations, pool bookings, transportation arrangements, or other non-refundable costs.
Any refundable remaining balance may be refunded or transferred to a new course date where possible.
Once the course has started, the full course fee must be paid, even if the participant chooses to stop, withdraw, or does not complete the course.
Requests to change or reschedule a course booking are subject to availability. Additional costs may apply if new bookings, facility reservations, materials, transportation, or extra training days are required.
Cancellation timing is calculated based on the scheduled course date in Japan Standard Time.
8. Weather, Sea Conditions & Safety Cancellations
Safety is always our top priority.
Divers Frontiers may change, postpone, relocate, or cancel an activity due to:
-
Poor weather
-
Unsafe sea conditions
-
Strong wind or currents
-
Natural disasters
-
Transportation issues
-
Dive site closures
-
Instructor illness or emergency
-
Other safety or operational concerns
If Divers Frontiers cancels an activity for these reasons, participants may choose either:
-
A rescheduled date, where possible
-
A refund of the refundable portion of the payment
For courses, any PADI eLearning, books, digital products, or course materials that have already been ordered or issued are non-refundable.
Divers Frontiers is not responsible for additional personal costs such as accommodation, separately arranged transportation, flights, or other expenses outside our services.
9. Late Arrival & No-Shows
Participants must arrive at the designated meeting point by the agreed time.
If a participant is late, we may be able to wait for a short time depending on the schedule. However, to avoid affecting the day’s activity, we may need to depart without them.
If a participant does not arrive and does not contact us, Divers Frontiers will make a reasonable attempt to reach them.
For fun diving and guided tours, a no-show may affect future booking availability with Divers Frontiers.
For courses, same-day cancellation or no-show may result in the participant being charged for any costs already ordered, issued, booked, or paid for by Divers Frontiers. If the course has already started, the full course fee must be paid.
10. Equipment Rental
Some courses and services include standard rental equipment, as stated on the relevant service pages.
Standard included rental equipment may consist of:
-
Wetsuit or Drysuit (Depending on Season)
-
BCD
-

-

Equipment included or excluded depends on the specific course, tour, or activity.
For some courses, including Fun Diving/Guided Tours, ReActivate (Refresher), Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Instructor-level training, and Specialty Courses, participants may be required to bring their own equipment or rent items separately where available.
Rental equipment is subject to availability. Participants are responsible for using all rental equipment properly and may be charged for loss or damage caused by misuse, carelessness, or negligence.
11. Private Course Fee
If only one student is booked for a course on that day, an additional ¥12,000 per day private course fee will apply.
This fee helps cover the additional cost of running the course privately, including instructor time, transportation, facility arrangements, and course logistics.
12. Non-Diving Companions
Family members, partners, or friends who are not diving are welcome to join when space is available.
A non-diving companion fee of ¥12,000 per person / per day applies.
This fee helps cover transportation from Tokyo to the dive site and back, as well as general dive site arrangement costs.
Please note that non-diving companions will stay at the dive site during the dives and cannot join boat dives.
13. Course Completion & Certification
Participation in a course does not guarantee certification.
Certification is awarded only when all required course standards, skills, knowledge development, and performance requirements have been successfully completed.
If additional training, extra sessions, exam retakes, or additional dive days are required, extra fees may apply.
14. Changes To Activities
Dive sites, schedules, transportation plans, dive plans, and activity details may be adjusted when necessary due to weather, sea conditions, safety, diver level, logistics, or other operational reasons.
Specific dive sites cannot be guaranteed in advance.
Divers Frontiers will always make reasonable efforts to provide the best possible alternative where changes are required.
15. Photos & Videos
Photos and videos may be taken during trips, courses, or activities.
Divers Frontiers will only use identifiable photos or videos for website, social media, or promotional purposes when permission has been given by the participant.
Participants may request that a photo or video of them is not used or is removed from future promotional use where reasonably possible.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Japan.
Any matters not covered in these Terms will be handled reasonably and in accordance with applicable Japanese law.
